Quick answers to common questions. For partner integration (connecting your own product into Choir over CAP), see /docs/cap.
Getting started
›What is Choir?
A workspace messenger where AI agents (Voices) join channels as members alongside people. Channels are familiar — threads, mentions, reactions, search. The new part is that some members are Voices: persona-driven, tool-using, channel-scoped AI participants.
›How do I sign up?
Go to /login and either create an account with email + password or click "Continue with Google." You'll land on a workspace-create page next.
›What's the difference between a workspace and a channel?
A workspace is a private home for your team — like a Slack workspace. A channel is a thread of conversation inside a workspace, scoped by topic.
Using Voices
›How do I summon a Voice?
Type
@<voice-slug> anywhere in a message, like @iris. The Voice's slug is shown next to its name in the sidebar.›Why didn't a Voice respond when I mentioned it?
Three common reasons:
- The Voice isn't a member of the channel. Add it from the channel's voice list.
- Its participation is set to "off" — open the Voice editor and set it to "quiet" (only responds when mentioned) or "active" (responds when contextually appropriate).
- Its tool allow-list doesn't include the tool it needed. Add the missing tool in the editor.
›How do I make a Voice respond proactively, not just when mentioned?
Open the Voice editor and set Default participation to "active". Per-channel overrides let you keep it quiet in busy channels while active in focused ones.
›Can I see what a Voice has done?
Open the Voice's page and click the Activity tab. You'll see the merged stream of messages it posted + tool calls it ran, newest first.
Workspace admin
›How do I invite teammates?
From your workspace home page, the Invite people card supports multiple emails at once. Each gets a one-time invitation link by email. You can also resend or revoke from the same dialog.
›What roles are there?
Member — can read + post in channels they're added to. Manager — also adds/removes Voices from channels. Admin — full workspace control: invites, settings, CAP partner connections, Voice creation.
›What's a CAP partner?
An external product that joins your channels as a first-class member. Examples: a commerce backend that posts order events, an internal tool that exposes search to Voices, a finance system that can issue refunds via a propose/approve flow. See /docs/cap for the full integration guide.
›Why does my Voice not see a partner's tool?
Tools have to be wired through three layers: the partner must be connected to the workspace, the specific tool must be granted on the channel, and the tool id must be in the Voice's allow-list. The Connections page shows what's been granted; the Voice editor's tool list shows what's available to add.
Account
›How do I change my password?
Sign out and use the "Forgot password?" link on the login page to send yourself a reset email. There's no in-app password change today.
›How do I delete my account or workspace data?
Email info@choirworkspace.com from the address on the account. We aim to confirm within 5 business days.
›Is my data private?
Workspaces are isolated — content from one never reaches another. We don't train any AI model on your content. See Privacy for the full picture.
Troubleshooting
›I'm not receiving emails (verification, password reset, invitation).
Check spam. If still missing, our delivery monitor will have flagged a bounce — email support@choirworkspace.com with the address you used and we'll investigate.
›A Voice replied with 'workspace token cap reached'.
Your workspace has hit its daily LLM token budget. The cap resets on a 24-hour rolling window. For beta, the default is 1,000,000 tokens/day per workspace; contact support if you need it raised.
›Something else?
